Importing and Exporting Templates
All CCRSoftware programs include a template editor(or “form” editor) that allows you to modify our built-in templates for reports and forms. Edited templates are saved as separate files, but to be used they must be located in the the appropriate folder on your computer. We provide an import and export function that helps you get templates in the proper place.
Why would you need this capability?
- You may have a template provided to you by the CCRSoftware staff – we create custom templates (for a fee) and in the future we plan on having a “library” of templates that people can download.
- Another CCRSoftware user may want to share a template.
- You might be changing your multi-user configuration by relocating the “common location”, and need to move your templates.
- You can also use the export capability to create backups of your files.
Select the Forms option in your CCRSoftware menuĀ and select the type of form or template that you want to work with. This opens the Edit Reports window.
If you wish to import a template:
- Save the template to a location that you can easily find, such as your Desktop or your My Documents folder.
- Click the Import button and a standard Windows file open dialog window will open.
- Locate the template file (it will have an repx file type), select it, and click the Open button.
This will copy the template file to the common location that you have specified when you installed the CCRSoftware program. You will see the report listed in the Edit Reports window.
Note that each program, and each “type” of report or form, has a “prefix” to the file name. The Edit Reports window will only show the templates for the type of form you selected. For example, CCRQInvoice order templates have a prefix of “ORDER”, so the “ServiceDate” form shown in the screen shot above will have a file name of “ORDERServiceDate.repx”.
If you wish to export a template to send to someone, or for safe keeping, select the Export button. This will copy all of the report templates (for the type of form/report you selected) into a location in your My Documents folder. The program will display the name of the folder.
